Hey there guys, how's it goin'? Everyone enjoying being back in school? ... whaaaat? Hey, be happy for it; being in school is a lot better than being out of it! Erm... ah... not that I'm, you know, complaining or.... You know what? Let's just go ahead and get started!
Of the Month Awards
We sure have some awesome guys around here, huh? I mean, you're all awesome, but we only have one award for each of them, unfortunately. If you ask me, everybody should get a reward, but that would be waaaay too much work, you know what I mean? No? Eh, anyways, onwards and upwards!
Member of the Month By unanimous vote, Nenat has won this month's Member of the Month award! Always friendly and upbeat in the cbox, and a very active poster, she's a welcome addition to CC! Keep on keepin' on, kiddo!
Canon of the Month It was a close vote, but the resident Al Bhed representative came out on top! Rikku is just an enjoyable character to see around, no matter what crazy antics she's up to, which netted her enough votes to win! Congrats to her!
Original Character of the Month Now Lo is an interesting character, wouldn't you say? She's actually a mermaid and, despite the fact that seems limited, she's gone and done it anyways, creating a character that blew us all away. Not only that, she's integrated into CC in a very well-done manner, and for that you've won this month's OC of the Month award!
Couple of the Month Though they aren't really yet a true-blue pairing, Yuna and Erik Storm won this month's Couple of the Month award! It seems like it's obvious to everyone how much of a crush Erik has on the High Summoner, but it looks like she's completely oblivious! Their threads together are just too cute, and for that we award you!
Thread of the Month Whispering Voices. Seymour is back up to his usual tricks trying to manipulate Yuna... for what, the fourth time now? Sheesh, bad guys never learn, do they? Still, looks like it'll be a fun story; keep your eyes on it!
-------------------------------------------------------
Congrats on the awards, guys, you earned them! Everyone else here is awesome too, don't get me wrong, but I only have so much space to work with here, y'know? Journalism mumbo-jumbo, yadda yadda. So how 'bout I give you guys some news? I'm guessin' that's why you're here in the first place.
Things to Look Out For
-Questing is now available! Check out the Questing board in the Join Us category to sign up or make your own!
-The ability list, shop list and health system have been modified and updated; be sure to update your battle stats with the new information! A large number of abilities were reworked, so be sure to look. A thread explaining status effects is also up in the guidebook.
Kind of skimpish there, but all right, let's get on to the stuff you probably bought this for; this month's interesting events.
In the Distorted World
- A state of emergency was declared in Cocoon when an unknown assailant caused the supercomputer running Cocoon's subsystems to self destruct. The cause of the attack is unknown, and Cocoonian officials are placing accusation on a covert strike by Archades.
- Alexandria is in disarray after the recent death of their Queen; it seems leadership of the country will fall to her adviser, Kuja, unless something or someone else happens to alter the flow of power in the Southeast.
- The city of Esthar is in ruins following a strike from the Messenger. The death toll is estimated to be in the tens of thousands, with no injuries.
- Rumors are starting up about a mysterious young woman with blond hair that has the power to restore the memories lost in the wake of the Calamity. Positive identification of the mysterious helper has so far not occurred; news sources are requesting that those who meet her point her in their direction for interviewing.
- The residents of Twilight Town and nearby cities are growing more anxious by the day with a sudden influx of strange creatures that call themselves 'Nobodies'. When spoken to, they only ask where an unknown resident of the town has disappeared to. Some groups are saying that the influx of the white creatures is a result of the mysterious Organization XIII and advise that, if these black-robed figures or white monsters appear, citizens and travelers stay out of their way.
- The town of Luca has finally finished repairs on its Blitzball field; fans of the sport have begun flocking to the city in droves to see their favorite sport played once more. Further reports indicate that a tournament is being held to see who has the best team in the area. Due to a generous contribution from the Shin-Ra company, Luca will be able to broadcast its blitzball games globally from now onward.
- There has been talk among Shin-Ra infantry that the former hero Cloud Strife has returned to Midgar. Further questioning revealed a plan to request his cooperation as their new president in the aftermath of former head Rufus Shinra's disappearance. Official statements have not been issued.
- Rumors of treasure hidden within Mt. Gulg on the central continent continue to remain, but new stories tell of powerful monsters lurking in the area. Extreme caution has been advised to all eager scavengers looking to drain the area of loot.
- The Golden Saucer's proprietor Dio has announced the grand re-opening of its amusement park area. In celebration, he has planned a tournament and several performances by the best actors in the world have been planned, including the prospect of a live performance from famed singer Julia Heartily, and if luck is on our side, possibly a performance of Lord Avon's 'I Want To Be Your Canary' by the world-famous Tantalus group.
- The mayor of Destiny Islands has established interest in and released information regarding an upcoming festival, claiming that fireworks will be shown, and that fun and food will be had by all.
- Scattered reports have been turning up about a powerful ship orbiting the Distorted World, often seen around the area of Cocoon. The ship has been reported to have shot down many of Archades' airships in battle with beams of magic light. Cocoon's legislators denied any knowledge of the ship's intention or origin, and said that the ships involvement in their war was purely coincidental.
- Radiant Garden has recently opened itself to refugees from the north as a sign of good faith, requesting only that they behave themselves as repairs on the city and the castle continue. Word in the area is that the current leader of the area intends to use the influx of refugees to assist in the reconstruction effort.
- The war between Archades and Cocoon has ended in a truce between the two nations, with alliance talks on the horizon, a direct result of the attack on neutral Esthar and the threat of the same fate befalling both countries.
Hey, I remember Julia! Well, that's all the time we have time for today! Tune in again for more updates and news! Excelsior!
