she took a plane to somewhere out in space to start a life and maybe change the world;
It seemed a few of the citizens of the small village were loath to let her into their large centerpiece building; shaped almost similar to an opera house, it sat upon a large bluff at the west end of the island like a crouching dragon watching over its horde. Lightning figured that if there was any place to go, it was there (as she didn't have a specific objective in mind, she wandered where she pleased, where things looked interesting) in the building that at any given time seemed to have a small stream of three or four people walking its front path under the stone overhang.
Nevertheless, a few of them gave her strange (disbelieving?) looks as she took to the road, climbing the stairs with steady feet and passing into the dimly-lit room beyond.
Two statues, one on either side of a small staircase at the far end of the room, dominated the ceiling - twenty feet tall easily, both of them were modeled after what seemed to be people in various religious costuming, robes and staffs being rampant. Small and faceless humanoid statues numbered in legions around the circumference of the torchlit room on rising steps radiating from the middle, and several people knelt or stood reverently in front of or near them.
The chapel seemed to thrum.
A monk leaned over to her from her post at the door, hiding his look of abject disapproval with a helpful smile. "Please keep your peace in these rooms; many come here to pray, and it is a sacred place." Lightning only nodded at him as she brushed past the mildly rotund man, stepping into the center ring slowly as she took in her surroundings slowly.
Certainly beat out the hustle and bustle of back home.

Home had...changed.
That was the only thing that Yuna could focus on, there were more houses here now, even a hotel. There was never a hotel on Besaid before, they was too small to get that kind of money to build it, and very little people visited Besaid to begin with. It would’ve been wasted gil. But here it was. As clear as day.
There were more people about on the beach, women inappropriately dressed in most bikinis’ that seemed a little too small for their large breasts, new with weird flat wood, swimming out to the sea to catch the waves that rose trying to get to shore. It was such a foreign sight to her, ever since...whatever had happened, Spira has changed...was this even Spira anymore at this point? Heading in land, walking past more people, she was more than relieved on when she reached her home, that the temple was still in place.
It would be horrible if it disappeared, it had such fond memories. She got her first summon here, and had met him, as he became her guardian. Smiling softly, she hurried over to the temple and entered. The monk gasping softly at her appearance, “Oh High Summoner Yuna, it is a so good to see you.” He said, doing the customary greeting in Spira, which Yuna returned easily.
“It’s so good to see you Elder, I was worried, there’s so much more people here now.” She started and the Elder chuckled, “It is alright child, the temple will be preserved, we are just as confused as you are on this great change, but do not worry child, I am sure all will work out.” He soothed, which made Yuna smile gratefully at him.
Noticing the pink hair and red cape that was in the center of the place, she cocked her head in question, before shooting the Elder another smile, before heading over to the woman. Well she guessed it was a woman, she had a rather slim build. Her clothing was foreign to anything Yuna had seen before, was she from another world?
“Do you like it?” She asked politely, stopping a few feet away from the rosette and cupped her hands behind her back.

Such a peaceful place exists...? This honestly baffled Albel and made him itch for a fight. Never before had he want to slice into a monster so badly, or clash blades with another. However, these commoners, as he walked by, didn't look like they had even seen bloodshed before, or even touched a sword. The intimidation of the man, no matter how strangely dressed, made the villagers stay away from him.
However, as he approached the temple, someone had the nerve to address him. "This is a sacred and holy place. This is a place of prayer and---" Albel walked by him. He wasn't worth hearing. "Wait, sir...!" Of course he didn't come running after him. Albel stopped and looked at the monk, who froze in place like a scared little deer. "I'm visiting." His cruel voice spoke out as he turned from the monk and continued onward.
However, in entering the temple, he noticed two women. He didn't want to over look them, but he was rather itching for a fight, and for those who noticed his intimidating aura, and as well as his not-very-friendly looks, could tell he meant trouble for the temple. Albel maneuvered around the two women when he noticed something. One was armed.
His blood boiled and he used all of his sanity, what left of it, not to pick up his blade and ask for a challenge. He continued onward, and started to go up the stairs to go deeper into the temple. The priests and monks may have wanted to say something, but this man was terrifying. They would not approach a man like him.

"Do you like it?"
If she were any less of a soldier she probably would have jumped, the girl - woman? - slinking up beside her having footsteps softer than a cat's. The question she posed caught Lightning off guard, not having expected to be approached in a place where people usually liked to be alone with their thoughts.
She opened her mouth and thought of how to respond, and closed it again - the place was actually quite beautiful if you looked past all of the creepiness, and the dead stares of the monuments' eyes.
"It's... quaint," Lightning struggled, trying to articulate her thoughts in a way that wouldn't offend the girl, for starting a fight (or an argument, even) in a place like this was sacrilegious to propriety, not just religion.
"Who do they worship?" she asked, passing a gaze around at all of the common folk keeping silent along the perimeter - and coincidentally catching the back of a rather strangely-dressed individual, who walked with a stride she recognized.
He was a warrior, at the very least. An executioner at best.
The clergy that watched the small staircase opposite seemed to recoil back into themselves, though the one on the left seemed ready to say something; figuring they were guards, Lightning could only wince as to what this might mean.
So she cleared her throat and gestured towards his back, hoping that her companion would provide some kind of "Oh, that's just..." response to alleviate her (not-unfounded) fears of things turning... well, ugly.

Yuna smiled up at her. It was obvious she wasn’t much of a talker, but when she said something, it was probably important and a rather biting remark, it reminded her much of how Lulu was, except this one at least did not have a mass of belts.
Yuna still wondered why she needed so many.
Yuna blinked her bi-colored eyes at the other, before allowing another smile to cross her lips, “They’re not really worshipping.” She told her, “The Aeon that use to reside here...well she’s seen as a protector, they pray for her to be strong and guide those that have died to the Farplane with her wings.” She gestured to the statue of the warrior holding the sword, “That is what she is believed to look like when she was human, before sacrificing herself to become an Aeon, to fight against Sin.”
She gestured to the other statue in the room, “That’s High Summoner Braska...my father.” She told the rosette. Seeing her nod to the male, she frowned sharply, “The inner sanctum, no one is permitted within it without the Elder’s approval.” She told the other, stressing on the word, while sending her an employing look.
If this woman was going to at least help...
Yuna pulled her guns out of her holsters before walking towards it. She was still considered a High Summoner, she had permission to enter the inner sanctum of all the temple with however was in her company. That was how it was. She personally did not mind it, as the inner sanctum was considered sacred, so only Summoners were allowed through, only summoners could pray to the Aeons for their help in her quest to defeat Sin.
Stopping just short of the entrace way, she glanced over her shoulder, back towards Lightning to see if she was going to follow.

The guards didn't phase him. He entered and walked in. By the time they attempted pursuit, they stayed where they were because of no permission. However, he did feel the stare of the other, and something close to hostility in the other. He smirked to himself as the entrance closed. He was interested. He walked down to the chamber of Fayth, where he suddenly turned around.
He had a hunch...no, that was Cliff's words. He had a feeling that he was about to get his thirst that he wanted as he drew his sword silently, waiting. He wondered though, should he be spilling blood in a place such as this? Albel took the time to look around him. This seemed to be quite a sacred place...to spar here with two unknown females seemed rather wrong.
Ugh, dammit he was starting to let Fayt get into his mind. Oh well, too late now, he thought. Sightseeing's over and a battle was about to begin. However, he felt no danger as he took out his sword, stuck it into the ground, and leaned on it. However, if they were to strike first, then he would be able to parry quickly. They both seemed very agile...
This was going to be a nice fight, Albel thought.

If she weren't so used to jargon that she had issues understanding, she would have looked at the girl in disbelief at the string of words she let out in explanation.
“They’re not really worshipping. The Aeon that use to reside here...well she’s seen as a protector, they pray for her to be strong and guide those that have died to the Farplane with her wings.”
Using the rules of context, Lightning managed to figure out that an 'aeon' was probably some kind of spirit or angel that carried those who had died to the 'Farplane' - the next life. Discerning mythological or religious aspects was starting to become second nature to her, being left with the stacks of analects from Gran Pulse that detailed Hallowed Pulse and Fell Lindzei.
As she was processing the statement, the girl continued on speaking.
“That is what she is believed to look like when she was human, before sacrificing herself to become an Aeon, to fight against Sin.”
Eidolons leapt unbidden to her mind. Perhaps the Aeons of this country were of the same plane as Eidolons - it would make sense. Though it seemed those who were willing could ascend to the title in hopes of defeating Sin(?) with the price of their mortal lives.
“That’s High Summoner Braska...my father.”
High Summoner? So Summoners could (most likely) summon Aeons to their aid, and High Summoners were Summoners that had fulfilled a task set before them. Interesting. She'd have to research this later.
Lightning nodded in respect to Braska and the Aeon woman as the girl took note of the one currently storming the 'inner sanctum', as she had called it.
"So I'm assuming you're the Elder and you don't approve," she quipped dryly as she was targeted with a pleading look. In the interest of public safety - yeah, she was still a little Guardian Corps - Lightning took the proffered glance as an indication to follow the brunette who had, at some point, gained a pistol in each hand.
"Let's go take care of this guy, then."

Sending the rosette a smile, she shook her head, “I’m...” She started tensing, but relaxed, she could trust this one, “I’m High Summoner Yuna, and I don’t approve of him either way.” She said, sending her a small grin.
Hearing the woman’s response, her bi-colored eyes softened, expressing her gratitude without her voicing it. Her gaze traveled over to the real Elder, and his expression was twisted in nervousness, so Yuna sent him a reassuring smile. Everything will turn out ok, such disrespect would not be tolerated in the temple of Valefor.
When the rosette was near her, she spoke in a whisper, “I am more magical based when fighting, my main expertise however is white magic, healing spells, I’ll try to help you as best as I can...Miss Guardian.” She didn’t know the other’s name, but with the way that she was going out of her way to help Yuna, help the temple, she was almost like a Guardian. The Guards that heard Yuna, exchanged looks with one another before nodding their head in understanding.
Continuing forward, to catch up with the intruder, she didn’t hesitate to raise her guns as soon as he was in her sight and fire two warning shots, one landing on the ground before his foot, the other aimed to brush past his cheek in a graze should he not react quick enough. “You are on sacred tuff without permission of the Elder, leave.” She said, this was his only warning.

He heard them. One was faster paced than the other...more frantic, maybe. He assumed it was that girl that showed some hostility. He was right, but what he didn't account for was her having guns. They looked like those...beams of light that the Vendeeni did except they were more like those giant Runological weapons the Aquarians had, in smaller form.
He didn't react to the bullet to the foot but he did move his head slightly to avoid being grazed. Oh, a warning? He could smell the nervousness coming off of her. However, she didn't look inexperienced as he stared into those bi-colored eyes. His face turned twisted with a wide smile as he drew his blade from the ground with his gauntlet and stood.
"Consider the warning heard and not heeded, fool." His voice rang out. "If you're allowed to shed blood in this place, that is." He was taunting her, testing her, see is she was willing to fight him on sacred ground. But he was not attacking first without the solider girl being here, or permission from Yuna that they could fight here.
No, permission wasn't it. He would attack, letting them attack first. "Try not to bore me."

Lightning nodded at the two guards, avoiding their gazes as they stared at her suspiciously - but being with the girl who had called her a 'guardian' seemed to grant her passage up the stairs toward the inner sanctum, and as the brunette took the path like it was second nature, she found herself staring at the things they passed.
Crude stone-slabbed walls inlaid with glowing inscriptions here and there, a circular indent about the size of her palm carved with utmost precision and surrounded by inner-lit lines - magic? There was little more explanation for a marvel such as the hieroglyphic language scrawled on the walls in lit script. The path was smooth-worn, with age or with use it was hard to tell - though she had the sneaking suspicion it was the former judging by the air and how dead it smelled. Stagnant, almost like a tomb.
It was a struggle to keep up with the High Summoner as they followed the path of the individual who had intimidated his way inside, and though Lightning was a fairly fast runner, a lift that they had to take was the point where she caught up to her companion.
Though at the bottom of its descent, the summoner took off before she did, and as she entered the room beyond the ring of two shots fired off met her ears - one impacted with a stone near his foot where he had stopped and planted his sword in the ground, and the other just missed his cheek when he turned to avoid it the smallest hair.
“You are on sacred turf without permission of the Elder, leave.” Yuna was tense, the warning seeming to be little but hesitance to start taking him apart.
But the latter answered back, self-confidence apparent. "Consider the warning heard and not heeded, fool. If you're allowed to shed blood in this place, that is."
Lightning took up a place next to the summoner, drawing and expanding her saber as the male spoke again, sword in hand. "Try not to bore me."
Assuming that she would be the offensive of the duo, the 'Guardian' waited for the High Summoner's signal, blade held out and at a forty-five degree angle with the ground. Her breaths evened as she found herself slipping into the by-now second nature mindset of fighting.

Yuna shook her head, it was customary to give a warning, as any honorable warrior would, this man, he was not even close to honorable. Looking over to the Rosette, she nodded her head to her, her signal to the older woman to go.
This room was massively nostalgic for Yuna, she has been in here numerous of times, sometimes with her father, sometimes by herself, thinking on how she would becoming a summoner one day to fight Sin, to follow in her father’s footsteps, and most likely...die as well. Valefor was the first Aeon that she ever summoned, she had felt so proud and happy, with Valefor, she was truly a summoner, she could now truly go forth after her father, and probably see him in the Farplane when she met her own end.
That’s why she hated the idea of fighting in this room, it had so many memories, it was sacred to the Elders on this place, but also to Yuna, but she would have to fight in it, she would protect it, with Miss Guardian helping her, it would be enough to fight off this cocky boy (Who she really hoped got his ass kicked so hard).
Clashing her guns together, she closed her eyes on concentrated, fine, let him underestimate her, they always did. Two years ago she was High Summoner Yuna, she was the healer, without the Aeons, she was not a threat anymore. But that was not true, she threw herself into being stronger, to move forth so when Tidus returned, she would not be that helpless damsel anymore, she would still heal, but she would fight, with guns, magic, everything.
She would not fall back into that role again.
Pulling her guns apart she cast a protective spell towards Lightning, with a flick of her wrist.

Oh? There was pain to this summoner? Albel flipped his blade around with one hand. It wasn't a very hard maneuver to do but he didn't have an ordinary arm. He was ready and that pained girl...Nel? She was like Nel, somewhat. Ugh, memories. Albel blocked them all out as he raised his sword, signaling he was ready to attack. Now he'll see how fast the solider girl really was.
However, he did keep in mind about this place. When had he gone soft?! His movements were fast, and it was obvious he wasn't aiming at the spell caster. Heh, spells and offensive moves? Just like Nel. Albel didn't slow down, nor did his wild grin go away, even when he was unable to suppress memories. Down his sword came, in a diagonal slash, hoping to either encounter her neck or shoulder.
However, as soon as he finished that attack, he flipped his sword to his other hand and striked with his claws, or rather gauntlet, towards her stomach. However, when he striked with his sword, he had it on the blunt side, and when he striked with his gauntlet, he shielded the sharp claws from any impact. It was obvious he did this on purpose.
He didn't want to spill blood here but, rather, vent out his want for a strong opponent.

The Protect shield created a half of a sphere of interlocking hexagons in front of her - the presence of the Synergist spell was a relief, as fighting partnered with Hope had led her to feel accustomed to such. She led with her left foot, Blazefire Saber held in a reverse grip behind her to be hefted at a moment's notice.
The boy raised his sword, and she tensed, thinking quickly - as a preemptive strike, she fired off a Ruin spell with her left hand, the orb alternating white and black and gray soaring through the air in his direction. Unable to tell if it had hit its mark, she was forced back another step and turned one hundred and eighty degrees to bring her saber up in an attempt to stave off his blade.
The blunt of the sword rebounded off of her brass knuckles, causing her entire arm to vibrate - and not being prepared for his follow-up strike, he juggled his sword and struck with his gauntleted hand to her stomach, knocking the wind out of her. The Protect shield took a small edge off of the damage, but a bruise was already forming on her bare stomach.
Reeling back a little to gain her footing again, she swept the point of her gunblade out and forward to catch him on his rebound, hopefully scoring a hit on the boy who had so deftly snuck past her guard.

Yuna frowned watching their movements carefully. With the protect spell, it should shield Lightning luckily making any damage that she gets not as bad, though the attack that Lightning used, Yuna has never seen that before, and wondered briefly what kind of magic it was.
Actually it wasn’t time to be worried about that right now, this was a fight she was in.
Closing her eyes again, she clashed her guns together and closed them. It was time she tried this spell, without the aid of a dress sphere. Black magic, being the opposite of white, was the hardest for Yuna to learn or even master, she spent a long time learning the art of white magic that she only knows their principle’s. Luckily with Lulu’s guidance, she taught Yuna how to use Black Magic, granted this was before the Black Mage Dress sphere she had found.
With that, Yuna kind of...slacked off on her Black Magic training, relying on the Dress sphere, but she didn’t have that Dress sphere anymore, she didn’t really have any of her dress sphere’s as before because while they were great, she felt as if she was relying too much on them, though she wouldn’t mind having the Warrior one again, just to fight beside Tidus in it.
There!
Her bi-colored eyes snapped open and she made a grand arc with her right arm, sending a fire spell towards the male opponent just as Lightning was knocked away by the gauntlet he had upon his arm. Quickly following up, she aimed her guns and fired towards him, one bullet heading towards his shoulder, the other heading towards the thigh of his leg.

That shining light orb. It reminded him of the Aquarian Runology somewhat. He shielded himself with his gauntlet, but the magical force still affected him, but at least this way he didn't have to slow down from his attack. However, he was quite happy with his attack. She got him, however. How was she this fast...? Solider girl, definitely. Albel's arm was nicked by her gunblade as he took this time to distance himself.
He was about to strike, but he somewhat forgot about the weaker of the two. The fire spell he took a hit on as she jumped away to avoid the two gunshots. Albel stared at Yuna, then back at Lightning. Albel made a split second decision and did something that either looked suicidal, a surrender, or a act of someone full of himself. He stood up, and withdrew his sword.
"It got boring." Albel said simply. Albel didn't mind that the two ladies in front of him were armed. "You were saying about I'm not supposed to be here or something, fool?" Albel asked. Why this sudden change? He wanted to fight Lightning, but with this annoying little weakling, he couldn't consentrate.
Plus, she kind of looked like Fayt in some sense.
