The city of the dead has been transferred in a phenomenal manner, having begun the foundation following the blending of the Farplane, Lifestream and both Isles of Heaven and Hell. In this remarkable turn of events, the dreams of the Fayth of awoken those long thought to have fallen; friends and loved ones may walk the world anew. Unfortunately, their inability to decipher the lives these people led, has meant even the most malevolent of entities have been provided a second opportunity to usher in their utopia.

The Calamity served to decimate the once mystical home of the Espers, twisting and converting numerous of the inhabitants into beings of malevolence whose sole purpose would be to adhere to the commands of their newly established deity. There were few to have survived the ordeal and many to who had were lost in conflict with former friends. At this juncture it would appear the region is lost to the ominous magic that resulted in this riff of dimensions.

All that can be seen is darkness... but from the entrance below the Land of Espers, there is a path leading forward, a path made of dark energies that seems to branch and meander throughout the world. It glows a soft blue when stepped on, and is cool to the touch. Beyond this level is Terra.

A great civilization reduced to mere ruins, a decayed world ruined beyond recognition and sealed in crystal. Its people never knew the rebirth they had been promised. Perhaps the landscape, so alien and different from the world above, as if seen through a shattered mirror, is intriguing. Perhaps it is frightening. Below this level is the Keyblade Graveyard.

Interspersed with tall earth structures, the barren ground that is alternately flat and mountainous is desolate. The only color in the landscape between the land and the sky are the faded and rusted colors of the Keyblades - thousands and thousands of them, sticking up from the flat ground like grave markers in the center of the region. A large cross of uncovered land allows passage where the abandoned weapons do not. Below this level is the Empyreal Paradox.

Vana'diel can no longer be visible through its transparent floor. Now, through its crystal bottom, the room resembling an emperor's throneroom shows the wreckage of the Worldwide Corruption. The crystalline structures and cathedral arches may again play witness to the events determining the fate of the world, overseen always by the central orange crystal. Below this level, down a large quartz staircase, is the Worldwide Corruption.

Due to the magnitude of the dimensional riff stretching to the most obscurity of worlds, numerous worlds existing beyond the threshold of the Final Fantasy universal have been pulled into this core, colliding into one another and twisting in unfathomable ways with little in regards to a remembrance of what they had once been. There are minor exceptions, although none dare venture to determine which have survived. It is unknown whether or not anyone has come away from this corrupted world, although there is speculation.

In the northernmost portion of the level, the ground is perpetually covered in a small amount of stagnant water, here and there interspersed by shell-like structures. Beams of green light arc over the field, able to be used as a railing to grind or walk on by more savvy and coordinated warriors. At its center rests a small and unassuming throne. However, continuing further south, the land curves slightly upward and turns into dry and arid desert. The sky fades from delicate darkened clouds to a firestorm in the atmosphere, and at its southern end, a malicious throne sits upon a pedestal carved of dark purple stone. Below this level is the inaccessible Abyss - it appears this is the end of the Core.
