Koki Kariya gave a low whistle, his iron like wings setting him lightly into the courtyard of... what seemed to be a floating school. "Well, now I guess I've seen everything. A floating school building; we definitely don't have these back home," He commented, wandering about. Impressive place, but it was a bit too roomy. Like they were expecting some sort of giant monster attack. Megumi'd have fun with this place.
He wasn't quite paying attention to where he was walking, though, and accidentally ran into an older woman with pink hair. That was... unusual. Something else he'd never seen in Shibuya. He gave a little shrug to the woman with an apologetic expression. "'scuse me, I wasn't watching where I was going. You wouldn't happen to have seen a girl about my age with pink hair a bit darker than yours around here by any chance, would you?"

god that was strange to see you again
"What?" The kid who'd walked face-first into her seemed to rebound with a minimal - if present - effect to his energy. She would question what the hell he was doing if he weren't so prompt in engaging her in conversation without pausing to breathe, seemingly.
You wouldn't happen to have seen a girl about my age with pink hair a bit darker than yours around here by any chance, would you?"
"No." If she was stern enough, the kid would shoo. Shady types like him, meandering around in places where nobody would notice them, tended to shoo when she told them off. She brushed imaginary dust off of her ruffled jacket, frowning irritably.
But against her better judgment, Lightning was curious.
"Why?" Why they'd gotten separated, why he cared; whatever. She shouldn't even be chatting with him anyway. Maker-damn this good Samaritan that had possessed her since the fall of Cocoon.

"Why?" Kariya asked, his sunglasses sliding down on his nose a bit. He shrugged nonchalantly. "Well, the same reason anyone would look for anyone else, I guess. We're friends, after all; it wouldn't be too friendly of me to lounge in that garden over there before at least taking a look around for her."
He paused, frowned a bit, then added. "Then too, she'd hit me if I didn't. And she's my partner, so the brass wouldn't be too happy if I didn't look for her. So here I am. No offense, but you don't really seem like the type to care why someone's looking for someone else; any real reason for asking, miss...?"

Figured.
Then again, losing your partner in a maze like this - she wondered how the students even got around, standing stalwart in the hallway as the cadet student body split around her like schools of fish or a rock in a river. The uniformed teens (and every now and then, someone out of uniform but usually toting a weapon) weren't afraid to shoot double-takes as they passed, but Lightning pointedly ignored them.
If she got told off for being on campus without permission, well, that was a bridge she'd cross when she came to it.
"No offense, but you don't really seem like the type to care why someone's looking for someone else; any real reason for asking, miss...?"
"Lightning." The soldier crossed her arms, thumbing one of her brass knuckles uneasily. This had the makings of something to do, at least, but if she got another tag-along kid out of it the way Hope had followed her out of the Vile Peaks, she wouldn't be talking to anyone in search of their friends for the next few years.
Aw, screw it. Claire - Lightning - swallowed her misgivings, and made eye contact with the kid. "If you want, I'll come help. Got nothing better to do."
"Who are you anyway?"

"Again, no offense, but you don't really seem like the type who likes to work in groups. More like a solo operative. Good or bad thing, I've got no idea; whatever works," Kariya replied, shrugging. He appreciated the offer, but this lady looked like she would KILL him for being his usual lazy self... and frankly,he liked his pseudo-life.
"Hm, me? I usually just go by Kariya. Well, sorry to bother you, I guess; if you happen to see my partner anywhere around, let her know I'm looking for her. Just look for someone with pink hair and wings like mine," Kariya said, reaching behind him and thumping one of his black wings to indicate what he was talking about. With that, he walked around her, pushing his sunglasses up on his nose a bit and looking around. He'd stop if the woman wanted to talk more, he'd talk, but... Christ, this was going to be a lot harder than he'd expected.

"Again, no offense, but you don't really seem like the type who likes to work in groups. More like a solo operative. Good or bad thing, I've got no idea; whatever works."
"You're damn right about that," Lightning deadpanned, crossing her arms. "I'm trying to get along better with people, though, so tell me how to help."
Kariya described his partner as having pink hair and wings like his, and Lightning ended up forming an idea in her head of what a sister of his with pink hair would look like - and promptly shut it out. But he brushed past her with a hand to his sunglasses, gazing around himself as he pushed them up higher.
Well then. "Good luck on finding your partner. I'll tell her if I see her." Chasing after the guy was not on her list of things to do. But she would wish him luck and lend him a hand, as losing a friend in a world like this was stressful indeed.
Lightning turned her back to him and walked in the other direction, towards what appeared to be the front door of the place. She had someone to talk to.
