I wrote this for the contest and is a songfic based on Bittersweet Memories:)
~Bullet For My Valentine~
Vincent Valentine turned on his stereo and Bittersweet Memories by Bullet for My Valentine started playing.
‘You turn me of at the push of a button,
And you pretend that I don’t mean nothing.
I’m not a saint that’s easy to tell
But guess what honey, you ain’t no angel’
Everyone has a certain type of music and for Vincent Valentine it was heavy metal and alternative rock. He loved the sound of metal and it seemed to bring him release from any pent up frustrations he may have. Such as a stressful day acting as Clover or Alma’s bodyguard. Even though he was a very good bodyguard it got tiresome sometimes.
‘You like to scream and use words as a weapon,
Well go ahead take your best shot woman.
I wanna leave you it’s easy to see,
But guess what honey, it’s not that easy’
Vincent listened to every word as it was sung to comprehend the meaning behind the song. It sounded to him like it was a song about a relationship that the singer wanted to end but couldn’t. It was relatively soft for a metal song but that didn’t matter to Vincent. It had feeling. Metal often made more sense to Vincent than those annoying pop songs Alma listened to or the Hip Hop Saphira listened to. It had more substance to it and had the innate ability to make a person feel the emotion of the song.
‘We get so complicated,
This finger’s for our memories...’
He could feel the pain and the anger of the music. He often used metal to get his feelings about his past particular what happened in the Shinra Mansion. He often sat on his own just listening the music and the lyrics. There was nothing like a good guitar solo to help pull you yourself together. He then started to think maybe he could start his own band.
‘So rip my pictures from your wall,
Tear them down and burn them all
Light the fire and walk away
There’s nothing left to say’
Vincent started to sing along letting every feeling of anguish and anger into his voice. He wondered how he sounded whether or not he could be the lead singer. He knew he couldn’t play guitar because that was fairly impossible with his claw hand. He let himself really get into the song and let everything out.
‘Take the ashes from the floor
Bury them to just make sure
That nothing more is left of me
Just bittersweet memories’
That song definitely suited him. He had a fair few bittersweet memories particularly about Lucrecia. His past had basically ruled his life. His past had been tragic and it was to let it all go and move on. He liked the sound of having his own heavy metal band. Just as he was figuring things out the door opened and Akira stepped through the door. “What is this terrible noise?” She said turning off the stereo. Vincent glared at her and said “I was listening to that thank you very much. And it was Bittersweet Memories by Bullet For My Valentine.” Akira blinked. “Bullet For My Valentine huh. There’s a band named for you is there now. You’re a brilliant gunman and your last name’s Valentine hence Bullet For My Valentine.” Vincent chuckled at the comment about the band name then turned his stereo back on and saying “It’s my room and my stereo and I’ll play what I want to.” He then pushed Akira out the door and locked it before turning the stereo up. This was bliss for the former Turk who was haunted by his past.
‘I want to run and escape from your prison,
But when I leave I feel something is missing
I’m not afraid that is easy to tell
This can’t be heaven it feels like I’m in hell.
You’re like a drug that I can’t stop taking
I want more and I can’t stop craving
I still want you it’s easy to see
But guess what honey you’re not that good for me.’
