This is a list of all the playable races on the forum:
Aegyl—A hume resembling race, with the exception of the large wings coming out of there shoulders. The wings come in a variety of colors, and allow the Aegyl to fly, however, the strain that they put on there bodies, reduces their life spans. The oldest recorded one was just 40 years old. All aegyl so far show the same kind of behaviour and are rather cold and aloof. Whether they are incapable of showing emotions, or do not feel them, is still called into question.
Al Bhed—Possess an extremely close likeness to their hume brethren, but they possess uniquely swirled pupils. All recorded Al Bhed have green eyes and Blond hair. Al Bhed are the most expressive with their emotions and body language. Al Bhed have a keen interest in old technology sometimes organizing slavage operations and excavations for ancient machinery.
Antica—Ant-like in appearance, these Beastmen are nothing much but are known to possess a hive mentality. Upon birth they are assigned a job and a number, they work that job for the rest of their lives. The antica have no emotions, or any recorded sense of individuality, so they unquestioningly obey all orders of their leader.
Avatars—These celestial and terrestrial beings can sometimes be called forth by summoners. Celestial avatars cannot die, but terrestrial avatars can, it is suspected that celestial’s cannot die is because they are tied to an element.
Baknamy—These creatures closely resemble humes save for the small horns atop their heads and their green skin. Oxyen is poisonous to them, so they must wear filtering masks to survive. They are surprisingly powerful for their size and capable of using magic quite proficiently despite their low intelligence.
Bangaa—A lizard-like race, they are the most physically prominent species to date. Because of their reptilian appearance, it makes it quite difficult to distinguish the sexes from each other. It is considered a racial slur and worst insult to call a Bangaa a lizard. Strangely enough the Bangaa can grow facial hair. It has been recorded that the Bangaa’s are separated into four sub-branches. The Bangaa Ruga (yellow-brown skin), Bangaa Faas (bronze skin), Bangaa Bista (Copper-colored skin), and Bangaa Sanga (ash colored skin). There are also mix breeds. Generally Bangaa are much like thieves and thugs, stealing from travelers.
Black Mage—An autonomous, man-sized magician dolls. They are created from ‘mist’. They come in three powerful variants recorded as ‘Type A’, ‘Type B’ and ‘Type C’. They are ‘born’ without a will and mind of their own and obey any orders from their master. It is unclear, however, as to how aware they are of themselves and their surroundings ay this initial stage. However they describe it as ‘becoming conscious’ as an abrupt event, as if coming out of a daze, and develop their own personality.
Bugbears—Slaves bred specifically for guard duty and manual labor. Their arms, legs and hearts have been physically enhanced, giving them prodigious strength. However Bugbears cannot speak in the proper sense and speak few simple words, however they can perform a separate task with each hand thanks to the transplantation of an extra pair of eyes and an extra brain.
Burmecian—Rat-like beings that are mostly humanoid. They are skinny, but agile, and are recorded for dancing beautifully. In personality they all differ just like humes.
Chocobo—An avian race that is used mostly for transportation. They come in a variety of colors the most rare being a Golden chocobo, they are recorded of cries of some going ‘Cooc Cooc’ to ‘Wark’ to lastly ‘Kweh’. Chocobos are usually friendly to humes, however, there are some reports of them found as wild enemies. Chocobos cannot fly, unless it is a golden chocobo.
Dwarves—A race a small species that are highly skilled engineers, they speech has usually a very thick accent to it, to enter any kind of Dwarf city, you must use a special password, it is usually ‘Lali-ho!’ or a variation of it.
Elezen—A rather peaceful race that looks much like hume’s with variations. The Wildwood live in the forests and are excellent archers due to their keen eyesight. They have a high sense of honor and pride and often look down on other races but co-exist and are peaceful. The Duskwight Elezen live in caves and caverns, they have acute hearing, they are mostly reclusive and resort to robbery and pillaging to survive, earning the scorn of their wood relatives.
Elvaan—An elf like race that has high strength, and are successful healers. They are the most religious and also the most imperialistic. They do not share a genetic attitude, it all differs like with Hume. They seem to live in fields or plains.
Esper—A magical being that once hume. They are the most proficient race in magic wielding, they more peaceful however, not wanting conflict but will fight back if pushed. They live in their own land, separated from everything else to have their own peace.
Fal'Cie— A race of highly powerful and sentient creatures resembling an amalgam of organic and machine parts, fal'Cie are thought to be brothers with Humans/Humes in creation as they were, in a sense, orphaned by the same parent - the goddess Etro.
Galka—A large humanoid with a vaguely ursine appearance. The are rather strong and have incredible endurance, however they cannot cast spells so often even though they are average in that area. Strangely enough they are all male, and claim they reproduce through a form of reincarnation.
Gargant—A large mole-cricket-like insect that is about the size of a small car. Some are tame, and are being able to rise them throughout caves and tunnels with a carriage. The wild ones, you have to get onto its back. They dislike water and are easily scared of larger monsters. They are rather peaceful however so they do not fight.
Garif—A humanoid race, generally, the Garif are a peace-loving peope, albeit physically capable of fighting and hunting thanks to their muscular bodies, thick fur, and incredible hearing and sense of smell. However many Garif’s are herders, while some have gone into trading. Garif are not interested in material goods or money, but choose to live in harmony with nature, they also see no use in machinery, and actually abhor all manufactured things with the exception of their masks.
Genomes—A manufactured species that was made to house souls. They look like hume, with the exception of a tail. They lack a little to no emotional response, unless one is given a soul. When given one they forget the drive to have a soul and develop their own personality.
Gigas—A large species that is essentially a giants. Gigas do not possess much intelligence, while they do possess a language, it consists of the stringing together of simple words or phrases. Their own language is often unintelligible, even by members of their own kind. However they make up for this lack of intelligence in brute strength.
Goblin—Little creatures that have a flexible lifestyle and adaptability to the surrounding environment. They are best in trades such as smithing, and healing. When addressing another goblin they usually add something to the end of their name, an ‘-ix’ on the end means male, while a ‘ox’ is for female.
Gria—A draconian race complete with dragon wings, tail, and horns. They are more proficient in physical attacks rather then magical in combat. They are not like the Aegryl, they are actually rather fiery and proud.
Guado—An elvish like appearance, though their hair usually resembles plants. The protect the Farplane, and as a result have a keen sense of smell to tell the difference from an unsent from a regular hume. They are rather serious and loyal to their deity. They can run twice as fast as humes.
Human/hume—The most populated creatures in the world, they live everywhere and anywhere they can, with extreme variations between each individual.
Hypello—An aquatic creature that seems to share amphibious appearance. They are slow on land, but in water, they move as quick as other fish. They do not pronounce word probably, but it is easy to understand what they mean to say, they also end most of their sentences with a questioning tone when unnecessary.
Lamia—A race of reptilian, that is largely serpentine in appearance. Their upper bodies resemble those of hume woman they the lower half is of serpent tail. They are a war craving race, attacking others and enchanting the bones to make more of their race.
Mermaid—A marine race with the upper half of their bodies human and the lower fish-like. The females are recorded to have beautiful voices and lovely appearance to bewitch any man with their beauty, they are friendly but some are recorded to eat humes by luring them to the ocean.
Mithra—A cat-like humanoid race that is mostly female dominated. They have cat like ears for excellent hearing, and tails for an unparalleled sense of balance. Male of this species are rare. They are much like Amazonian warriors with cunning and wits, they are very territorial especially against other females even those of a different race.
Moblins—A tribe of Goblins, as Goblins are usually independant, Moblins have organized themselves to make a civilization of their own. They are exceptionally good in smithing and alchemy skills.
Moogle—A creature that is found in most parts of the world. A trademark characteristic of moogles is the ‘pom pom’ they have on top of their head on a wiry antenna, it is rather sensitive to touch and as a result, most do not like it being handled in any way, shape, or form. The Moogles are small and variety in appearance, ranging from rodents, to felines, to even marsupials, however they have been known to appear little more than a limbless ball of fluff. All moogles have small bat like wings that they some can fly with. Moogles do not mind hume’s as they have their own mailing system called ‘Mognet’ which for the exchange of delivering human male, they would deliver moogle mail. They’re trademark cry is ‘Kupo’ which they add to the end of every sentence.
Moomba—A little cat like creature that is generally used as a slave or labourer. They have red fur covering their bodies and even though they stand on two feet, they get around by on all four. They cannot talk, but can be taught a word or two. They have an useful ability to recognize or track someone by using their DNA via their blood. However individuals that share DNA or even those that have kids, can confuse them.
Nu Mou—Dog like in appearance, they have elongated faces and tails though their lifespan is three times longer than humes. They excel in magic, since their small bodies restrict physical abilities,if magic won’t work, they will call other monsters to help. They are a rather reserved race so not much is known about them.
Occuria—A genderless being with a feminine voice, but masculine titles, they appear as ghosts and images and can render themselves invisible and inaudible to anyone other than people they want them to see and hear. Their natural form is a floating spectre with an ornate, armour-like appearance. They have no visible faces only glowing yellow eyes floating in an empty black void. They can possess other beings and merge with them to drastically increase their strength and power.
Oglop—A small insect-like creature that is considered a pest. They hop around a lot and sneak into others clothing. The oil that they produce can be used in medicines.
Orcs—A highly combat orientated species that is often found as an enemy. Orcs are melee fighters, with a select few turning to magic. Their culture and tribal hierarchy is based on strength and combat prowess. They do not use technology, only using metal to make weapons and armor.
Qiqirn—A small marsupial race. They tend to be easy going and cheerful, but have difficulty speaking in hume due to their unusual vocal cords/ They are usually hired as a shop or guild assistant as their reliable and surprisingly quick witted. Some ever use their sharp sense of smell to become extremely weathy in the production of fragrances.
Qu—A genderless race. This species is rare, but have one thing in common, all they care about is food. Qus speak in brokenly. This odd-looking species is harmless and they permanently let their long tongues hang out and often dress like chefs. They are usually found in swamps.
Quadav—A turtle like species. Quadavs are closely tied to earth and water elements which they inhabit and toil about in. The Quadav identify themselves individually and culturally with the materials with thich they work. Within their strict caste system, those chosen to serve in the Elite Guard are given titles portraying hard and precious metals, whil those chosen to be magicians are given titles taken from precious gems.
Ronso—A race of anthropomorphic feline creatures. The tribe lives in the mountains and guards it fiercely, they have a strong sense of honor and loyalty as well as pride and quickness to anger. Males have larger muscular bodies, while the females have smaller athletic bodies. Ronso commonly have blue fur with patches of white on there thighs, calves, shoulders, chest (males), tail-tips and scalp. Males have a horn that grows from the forehead and denotes status and power. Females do not have horns like their male counterparts. They are uncomfortable in speaking in human as they keep their sentences short, direct, and with rough grammar.
Seeq—A pig-like race comeing in a variety of colors and sizes. It is physically impossible to tell the difference between a male and female seeq, however, clothing and temperament can provide pointers. Seeq are treated as lower class citizens to most, because of their crude speech and lower intelligence. Most seeq tend to do manual labour, though it is not uncommon for some to resort to a life of crime as thieves.
Shumi—While this species is nearly humanoid, it is unclear whether the Shumi have genders like humes, their most prominent feature is their oversized hands, used for digging and craftsmanship. They are a peaceful race with technology both man-made and bio-natural products. A Shumi’s appearance depends on their inner nature.
Tarutaru—A short species that have a brownish button noses and chipmunk-like attributes. They are resemble children because of their size, but this does not reflect their age. Tarutaru have reportedly change little in appearance as they age. They are extremely proficient in magic. They have a good relationship with the Mithra. Tarutaru are more trusting of outsiders, and very in personality, though they display a trademark incredible curiosity and talent for mischief.
Unnamed—This species is unnamed as it was never given a proper title. The species are rather like wolves, but share characteristics of lions, they have bright orange fur with the end of their tails a burning flame, though it is unknown what this significance holds, and they are known to have long lifespans that lasts hundreds of years. They are equally intelligent as Humes and can speak perfectly. This species is reportedly near extinction.
Viera—A rabbit like species including long ears and supple limbs. Viera are very sensitive to mist, and will go into a frenzy if exposed to too much of it. Their ears allow them to hear over fast distances and have three times the lifespan of hume. They are separated into branches, the light-skinned Veena Viera and dark skinned Rava Viera. Male Viera do exist, however they live away from their female counterparts.
