What was this place? This was not Airyglyph nor was it some other world he and Fayt's little merry gang were at. However, the feel of the place felt somewhat like Airyglyph. However, Airyglyph lost it's power over Albel because of Duke Vox's death. Now, he only had Fayt, the man who defeated him, to follow and he wasn't even here. However, something seemed like home here.
This place felt like an Empire, of some sort. What told him that? He didn't care. He also got that he stood out, for his 'skirt' and his exposed torso was enough to not make him look local. If that didn't set someone off, the fact that he was obviously armed and wore a scary-looking gauntlet could be enough to look out of place. Even these people who didn't know Albel, never heard his nickname, eyed him and stayed away.
This didn't bother Albel but it did stop him in his tracks. There were two things wrong with this picture. One, he was obviously a foreigner. Two, this was obviously an Empire. What was wrong with that? If this place and Airyglyph were anything alike, foreigners would be looked down upon with suspicion. It might caught some sort of...fight.
Albel smirked to himself for that thought. He felt like his sword was getting a little bit rusty.

A man had appeared and he appeared armed to some degree. His breath hitched in his throat at the idea, his pace quickening as he entered the shopping province. With every step his armor rattled, his breath expelled in sharp exhalations as his leather clad hands tightened around the hilt of his weapon. As usual the people parted for him, their own pace mirroring his own, hurried and avoiding the blot of purple that stuck out like a sore thumb. This being did not fit in what so ever, these garish colors of misplaced royalty clashing with the warm color of red brick and muted brown. Everything within Archadia seemed lackluster in comparison to the variety of people that had recently appeared and this man was no exception.
Honey colored optics immediately lowered to the armor clad hand, cruel steel fingers sharp and glistening. From the back the sex of this being seemed most certainly female, though muscle lined the lithe figure he could never be too sure anymore. Slowly his eyes traced along the outlines of this figure, the strange attire certainly off-putting and the weapon this being held resembling a katana, if not outright one to begin with. He stood, facing the back of this intruder, his shoulders reared back and head held high, a proud dog indeed. “As Judge Magister and upholder of the law I hereby place you under arrest for public disturbance and bearing a weapon without the proper license.” His voice was calm though thickly accented, taking a single step toward the figure as his armor jostled. Gabranth kept his weapon at his side, this cur would be given the opportunity to stand down, however if he should fail to comply, he would be ready. i hoped that you would do this for me |

Was he talking to him? Albel stopped and looked behind him. Albel turned around suddenly because he liked what he saw. A man, clad in armor? Someone with such superiority? He was almost like Duke Vox. Hah, he missed that old fellow, or at least, wished he would rise from the grave so he would kill him, instead of those blasted Vendeeni.
"Judge Maister, you say?" Albel said, grinning. Oh, now the civilians were running away. He looked around and made sure at least they weren't involved. Why get weaklings involved? Albel drew his sword and pointed it at the Judge Maister. "The only time I ever came quietly under an arrest was when I was beaten unconscious."
That meant, he wanted a fight. But, as if the drawn sword didn't say anything. "I hope you're as strong as you look. I've been rather disgusted with the peacefulness of this so-called distorted world." Albel flashed his sword, showing him the blade's edge. He wasn't here to spar, but rather, he was here for the kill.
But, if he's as strong as he says, he wouldn't die. Albel grinned. Maybe, he won't die.

Upon further examination the figure was clearly a male, though garishly dressed as many as he had encountered this week. He wondered if he was with the woman LeBlanc, their attire disturbingly similar to a degree. However, this one seemed quick to draw his blade, it was obviously apparent as he lifted his blade to challenge Gabranth and those he vowed to protect. The safety of the citizens of Archades was at stake and this was no laughing matter. The Judge drew his blades as well, the lance-like weapon held before him as the young-man held his ground, the look in his scarlet eyes a challenge and one that Gabranth readily accepted. Without hesitation he raised his weapon, the intricate blades reflecting the sunlight as both hands gripped the tightly woven hilt. The Judge brandished it before himself, the blade now held vertically as he focused on casting. With a single flick of his wrist the blade moved with expertise, drawing up and around his left shoulder before falling back into the position it had initially started. He felt the magick energies surge through his being, his breath quickening at the thought of battle, something he lived for and by far enjoyed more than he would ever allow himself to admit. It was an opportunity to prove his prowess not only to this strange being, but also to himself. For the Judge it had been far too long since he had wielded his blades in proper combat and in this he felt pride, he felt honor return to his being. With another quick movement he parted his blades at the hilt, one held just above his head, slightly fixed behind his helm while the other rest at his waist, this strange stance allowing him to take full advantage of his own erratic fighting style. There was little hesitation in his advance; feet pushing him armored body forward to take the first strike. The man was hardly armored and in this he believed it easy to bypass his singular defense of the armored gauntlet and katana. A part of him knew this was reckless, hardly the behavior of a man of his position however much he convinced himself this was for the benefit of the Archadian citizens. Twice he lashed out, blades drawing down upon the youth’s unarmored shoulder in a horizontal slash before spinning away, his cloak flaring out behind him. The power of wanting to keep civilians safe and the want to not be better by a man with few armor...imagine the man before him's will to annihilate him. Or rather, to arrest him. Though, challenging him probably would cause him to be sentenced to death, or something. Ahh well, this was very thrilling right now. The man was under estimating him, it seems.
However, that spell he cast onto himself...it didn't look good. The man was pretty fast with his armor, but Albel knew he could out maneuver him. Albel could almost see where he was aiming for. He wanted to cut open to his defensive self. Albel chucked his sword to his unarmed one and parried one attack, though the force behind it pushed him back, taking damage, while the other grazed his arm. He growled slightly at that.
As soon as he finished, Albel was ready, switching his Crimson Scourge back into his gauntlet arm as he striked horizontally, , going for the middle of his back while he ducked slightly, switching out his sword, raking his gauntlet up his armor, hoping to throw the man in the air. If successful, he would jump and drive his katana, being switched again in midair, towards his left shoulder.

So he was apt with his sword, the Judge found himself somewhat pleased by this, if not mildly irate at the circumstance. This battle wouldn’t be completely one-sided. Golden optics widened as the youth came at him, his blade slipping against the section of his unguarded back. Pain bit into him, running up his spine like fire as he hissed, lips pulling back to snarl, as the male moved to strike again, this time with his gauntlet. Gabranth felt the scratch of those sharp metal nails against the hardened steel of his plate armor; instinctively he leapt back reconnecting his blades at the hilt to assume a far more defensive position. The boy was fast, he’d give him that but his skill was paltry in comparison to that of the Judge’s. There was no time to hesitate, every second wasted left himself open to another attack, his careless behavior had cost him and he would not allow himself this disgrace. He rushed forward, brandishing his blades and brought them down vertically on the youth, aiming on the spots either side of his neck before throwing out his leg to kick at the boy’s exposed torso. He leaned his body into these actions, throwing the combined weight of both his armor and his muscle to try and throw the youth back and away from him if but to create a safe distance. Gabranth refused to allow another folly. P H Y S I C A L T E C H N I Q U E S[ p a s s i v e ] Momentum - Every time an attack lands successfully the attacker is granted an attack power boost of 10%. Heh. So even the toughest of armor still couldn't be in penetrable. However, at this close of a range, there was no way he could lessen the damage of both. However, he might as well stop the more deadly attack. He parried his blades and took the kick to the stomach, sending him flying. However, he didn't want to break the distance so as soon as he could, he switched his sword arm and allowed his claw to scrap the ground, in hopes of stopping the distance build.
"Don't go any closer!" Albel heard a mother scream. Albel had little time to react, however. What idiot allows a child to run amok in the streets. Albel dropped his sword as he turned around , still sliding, and grabbed the child who was running towards them. This allowed the distance build, and the lost of his sword, but if he didn't, he would have most likely injured the child.
When Albel stopped sliding, he released the boy, allowing him to run crying off to his mother as he turned back to Gabranth. Albel was still armed, in a sense, for he had his gauntlet. However, he could still recover his sword. "Why did you save him...?" The mother whispered to Albel. "I only attack the strongest. I have no interest in even injuring the weak."
Damn Fayt, was all he could think as Albel ran to him, hoping to recover his sword while he did so. If he did, he would have Gabranth begging for him. Albel saw a weak point, and he was about to expose another. Without his sword, he would do two attacks, one aimed for the belly and then one at the shins, where he would jump away to gain more distance.
If he had the sword, he would go on an all-out fury of three attacks. His gauntlet would aim at the same areas, while his sword aimed for an arm.

His body instinctively moved forward to protect the boy, his arm outstretched as he rushed forward, though he was too late. This foreigner had gone and done his job for him, rolling away from the Judge in the process to create the distance he had initially hoped to gain. Silently he watched in awe as he released the child who crying, ran back to his mother who was equally as shocked as the Judge Magister. He could have used the civilian to his advantage, forcing Gabranth to surrender or harm the child, potentially killing an innocent in the process of detaining this being. The young man proved him otherwise, throwing all assumptions he had initially made out the window as he listened to his obligatory reasoning. Gabranth merely laughed at this, using his own strength as a rouse to cover up his compassion, how truly weak he must have been. Within an instant the scantily clad male bore down upon him again, blades lashing out at potential weak spots on his armored body. The edge of the katana bit through the air, whistling as it moved to strike at his armored belly. “ You underestimate me.” His voice was heavy through the mouth of his helmet, although muffled this phrase was snarled, his weapon coming to block each successive strike with long sweeping motions from his connected blades. Quickly he released his blade, his free hand coming up to catch the slim blade of the katana within one of the raised grooves of his gauntlet, twisting his wrist and pushing away from himself to throw the boy back onto the ground as he moved to counter. His helmet had connected with one of the sweeps of the swordsman’s blade, tucked under the horn it lifted the mask from his guarded face and threw it to the ground with a loud clatter of noise. Golden optics narrowed at his, darting in the direction he watched the precious piece fall, his lips pulling back and teeth bared as he rammed his fist into the spot he had previously kicked. It only took a single stride to move in, their bodies merely inches away as his face stared down at the youth who had taken his challenge, blades fixed to strike although he hesitated from doing so. “ Realize now, you are without hope and cannot win this duel.” His voice was haggard, breath drawn in a way that his armor shifted more substantially than before, the tight lacing of his stomacher falling slack. “ I will give you two options, one you have earned by sparing the life of that child. It proves that you are with some merit, cur.” He kept himself close, his body bearing down upon the lithe figure, his blade positioned at his waist. “ You can submit to the Empire, join within its ranks, lest you prefer being racked within an inch of your life.” Their faces were but inches apart, his brows furrowing in a telltale sign of anger. Gabranth leaned back, his optics taking in the features of the one before him, the thrush of brown hair colored with traces of blonde and skin so fair and pale. What startled him most was the color of his eyes, scarlet, which was not often seen in the humes that make Archadia their home. How peculiar, could he perhaps be like Strife and bear some sort of strange untapped power as well? Albel was far from stupid. As soon as that powerful voice spoke, he was sure he couldn't win. Such power...facing off an opponent like that reminded him of Duke Vox, but more powerful. What was this Judge hiding from him...? Not time to think as he was thrown to the ground. Albel didn't have time to recover or rebound as his katana flew from his hand.
Albel was still armed, but Albel knew who was the stronger man. staring at the man whose face he did not know would have made a small child scream. However, Albel had faced many opponents before, and it barely affected him. However, his body was raked in pain. It was getting difficult to see him clearly as he closed on of his eyes in attempt to steady his vision.
The the man spoke of an interesting position. Heh, so saving the boy made him reconsider arresting him, even after assaulting him? Albel wanted to laugh, but he had not the power to do so, so only his lips quivered to a small smirk. "Does this...Empire...have as strong of opponents like you?" His voice was amazingly powerful, despite being soft and cruel. However, it did sound like he had to make an effort to speak.
It was also clear that Albel's choice wasn't because he was afraid, but because he wanted to fight strong opponents, which was certainly strange among any. "I've sworn loyalty before and I can do it again. I think It'll be...fun to join the ranks of the Empire." All for a child...? He was truly a military dog. He had nothing against that - for he has been one himself, and willing to become one again.
He couldn't wait to see what this Empire had in store for him.
