Weaponry
Vaan typically carries a longsword with a hand-and-a-half hilt so it can double as a greatsword, a crossbow and a rifle, as sky pirates are wont to do.
Magical Item
Vaan's sword, the Godsblade Anastasia, whose acquisition he lost the memory of upon arrival in this dimension, has served him well. Its abilities are fairly limited: it will only accept Vaan as its wielder, burning anybody else that attempts to wield it. It is perfectly balanced for Vaan and light as a feather, and the blade never dulls.
Signature Ability
Pyroclasm: A truly monstrous burst of firepower, Pyroclasm is Vaan's last stand. He calls two spheres of high-density plasma to his hands and throws them at his foe. The spheres then detonate, each one releasing a shockwave up to twenty feet away and incinerating at point-blank. The damage happens indiscriminately, to friend and foe alike. Much like the black magick spells Flare and Scathe, Pyroclasm deals non-elemental damage that has only been blocked before by a Paling.

Concurrence: An attack with five variations, Concurrence is what Vaan uses to get out of a corner. The five variations are determined by how he launches the attack:
- Inferno: This one, activated by a punch towards the foe, releases a high-speed fire projectile that travels for fifteen feet before detonating, dealing moderate fire damage.
- Torrent: Activated by an uppercut, Torrent launches a sphere of water up that crashes down on the foe with great force. While it does deal heavy water damage, it is easily avoided.
- Cataclysm: Activated by slamming a fist to the ground, Cataclysm creates a row of sharp stone spikes in a straight line in front of Vaan to ten feet out. Deals heavy earth damage on direct hit, but only light physical damage on glancing blow.
- Windburst: Activated by a left hook, Windburst sends a whirlwind out to the foe while simultaneously drawing them in with its vacuum. The Windburst has no range limit, but only exists for ten seconds. It deals moderate Wind damage.
- Luminescence: Activated by a shoulder tackle, Luminescence releases a burst of bright light and heat similar to Flare. It deals heavy non-elemental damage.
All concurrences share the same cooldown. The first use has a three-turn cooldown; the second and all onward uses have a five-turn cooldown. Use of Luminescence, though, automatically invokes the five-turn cooldown.
