This month's guest host:Tifa Lockhart
Summer always seems to fly by way too fast, doesn't it? The good news is you still have a while before things get back into full swing with school, and for everyone not in school the good news is that the hot months of summer are finally going to start cooling off, not to mention the holidays. But I'm getting off track; let's get this under way, huh?
Of the Month Awards
I'll be honest, there's a lot of interesting things going on in the distorted world, but unfortunately we only have a few awards to give out. Either way, you guys all deserve an award for just being awesome!
Member of the Month Zidane is a member of our staff team, and an all around pleasant person to talk to. She's always helpful and fun to have threads with, even if she is a little slow with posting sometimes, but we all get busy.
Canon of the Month We actually had a multi-way tie between a bunch of canons, but the winner ended up being Eiko Carol from Final Fantasy IX! (Should have been me... I'm way cooler than--) It's not often someone takes a character so young, and it can be tough to pull off characters at that age without making them the kinds of people you want to boot in the head. For that, you win the award!
Original Character of the Month Akira Valice, one of Scara's (also known as Mikoto in the cbox) characters, has made the vote for this month's Original Character of the Month. It's interesting to see someone turn into a dragon at random... (I really think you should take some human relation classes though, it would really help. No one likes the idea that the person they're talking to will eat them.)
Couple of the Month Tidus and Yuna, despite the fact that it seems like everyone hates Tidus (Poor guy!), won this month's Couple award. Because really, who here doesn't like the couple? ... even if it is just because of Yuna for half of everyone. (Jerks.)
Thread of the Month Bitter Sweet Fate Hey, I heard about this happening a little while ago back at 7th Heaven (Stop by some time, you'll never find better drinks) from some guy up north. Apparently Archades and Alexandria are having their emperor meet the adviser, respectively. Somehow I don't think the conversation is going to be that interesting. (Not for me, anyway...)
-------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations to all the winners! But for everyone else, don't feel bad; I didn't win anything either. We're all awesome enough to not need some award to prove it, right? Well, I know I am.
Things to Look Out For
-Talk is in the works about reworking the abilities system! Broken abilities will be fixed, statuses will be added, and fun will be had by all! (If, you know, beating stuff up is your thing.)
-The Tournament has entered its final round! Due to a staggering list of people disqualified, the final match has come quicker than we expected. Don't miss Nel Zelpher Vs. Axel of Organization XIII! (My vote's on the ninja girl)
-The war between Archades and Cocoon is heating up, finally moving into the ground battle. There's a thread up to declare your allegiance; join the battle and fight!
Not much for that section, so how 'bout I tell you some of the gossip passing through 7th Heaven these days? Bet you'll be more interested than you'll think. Oh, this'd be a good time to try out that newscaster thing! *Puts on glasses*
In the Distorted World
-Citizens from cities in the northern continent are employing the help of neutral state Esthar to flee in the face of war; President Laguna has devoted the majority of his nation's airships to the evacuation effort for those wishing to avoid the conflict.
-Talk is spreading from Cocoon about a powerful supercomputer now running the systems left behind by Fal'Cie Orphan and Eden. Rumors are abound of the cruelty of the machine, and many are saying that the computer itself is the one carrying out the purge.
-The cities of Twilight Town and Baron were attacked brutally by Cocoonian and Archadian deserters, hoping to make use of the riches they could steal from its inhabitants. Thanks to the hard work of several local heroes, the deserters were ultimately driven off. Banora village escaped harm from a planned bandit attack; no witnesses could confirm the saviors, but the town's inhabitants are very, very grateful.
-Sanctum deserters fleeing the war have been giving positive statements about the supposedly murderous supercomputer. They state that it was close to being able to deliver important information about the Calamity's minions, the Plagues. The validity of their statements are questioned by most.
-Midgar remains in a lack of leadership at its core. However, a high-ranking military official has been appointed temporary leader of the city, and things have become much more organized. "We sincerely hope that one of the SOLDIER firsts or a Shin-Ra corporation leader returns soon to re-assume a proper leadership," Said one Captain Swift. "And by that we mean anyone but Palmer, Scarlet, Heidegger and Genesis Raphsodos."
-There has been a spike in mercenary activity in the more southern continents of the world in response to the spreading of the war between Cocoon and Archades. This spike in activities has also spurred a response from SeeD, who have promised to meet the uprising with as much force as they can muster.
-The obituary for Queen Garnet Til Alexandross was published several days ago to mark the death of the queen at the hands of an unknown assassin. A citizen of the city called it "Alexandria's Darkest Day." Queen Garnet was assassinated en-route to a meeting with Emperor Larsa Solidor of Archades. Outraged citizens are calling out for retribution, and blaming the city's security for not being properly prepared. Despite Queen Garnet's death, her adviser went on to meet with Emperor Solidor.
-Word has spread quickly in the settlements around Nibelhime about an explosive duel between legendary warriors Sephiroth of SOLDIER and General Beatrix of Alexandria. Spectators are still debating the true winner of the scuffle, but all agree that they feel sorry for anyone who missed the event. No casualties were reported.
-Explorers have begun discussing the presence of untold treasures hidden in the cavernous network of tunnels beneath the continents. Many have not returned, and many speak of strange happenings and incredibly strong monsters being present. Countries bordering the exit of these caves are advising their citizens to avoid the areas.
-An explosion at Aperture Laboratories in Cocoon has drawn the attention of reporters in the area, speaking of strange machines clad in sparkling white armor clattering quickly into the depths of the facility. Located within Eden, the facility is rumored to spread through nearly half the crystal walls of the Dyson Sphere. Aperture representatives denied any danger in the machines sighted.
-Reports continue to surface about the mysterious Organization XIII. Their goal and purpose seem to be varied between individual members, but they seem to still be united. The settlement of Radiant Garden is on edge.
-Repairs continue on the city of Radiant Garden after the recent fight between Plagues in the streets. Radiant Garden promised to build up a proper fighting force to better defend its citizens.
-Small blue monsters have recently begun to plague Baron in short secession to their crippling bandit attack. Citizens are calling it a city-wide streak of bad luck, and some are considering moving on to safer locations.
Well that was fun! I have to remember to do that again sometimes. Well, that's all for this month; tune in next month for more information about what's happening on Calamity's Cry! I'm Tifa Lockhart, stop by the 7th Heaven Pub and Inn in Midgar for more bits of information and refreshments! Excelsior! (I always wanted to say that!)
