"It's...unbelievable..."
Ouranus had been staring out into the distance of the vast ocean of Besaid. She had been traveling for a while, keeping from fighting too much considering the various cultures she had been visiting. But from having to go from fighting her way out of a warzone and finding this place almost seemed surreal. The territory for the most part didn't seem to be altered in anyway. But still even though it looked unaffected, she was still curious about the beach. She took her sandals off, letting her bare feet softly walk near the water as she stared into the water. She remembered how back at Alexandria how her family spent time near the lake that surrounded the city and always can envision how the light of the moon caught the water to make the grand blade of the castle shine true in the darkness. As she let the water hit her feet, she then looked down at the water and dipped her hand in it. She wondered what it was like. As she put a drop of water on her tongue, she then immediately spat the water out. It seemed to have a very salty taste to it. Despite the saltiness of the water though, it was nice to see a place of peace.

She didn't even notice Ouranus, nor did she notice her. But Scara had been here for at least a day, confused, but loving the peacefulness of this place. If she wasn't searching for a piece of her memory, she would have loved to stay here. The water was nice at her feet as she sat there in her dress. It was strange how Scara could not have known about her presence since she used to be able to detect it all the time.
'Is it...because I am missing Vento? It must be...I am only a normal human. Without him, I am nothing but a human.' Scara thought. She wasn't a Wind Priestess if she couldn't summon her own wind. Then, she heard someone as she looked next to her. There was someone in the water, but Scara was too shy to approach her. But she could only watch as she curiously drank some of the salt water.
Maybe she was thirsty? Or perhaps she was only washing her face and some water got into her mouth. But if she was thirsty....but Scara had nothing to offer as a drink. So she kept staring at the mysterious woman, wondering if she should tell her she was here or not.

"Never thought water could be this salty."
Ouranus had pulled out a small book from her person and a writing implement as she began to jot down notes about the land that she was in. The climate seemed to be considerable different than in Alexandria. It didn't feel as cool considering the altitude between the two nations. In addition she had never seen sand like this before. She grabbed a handful of sand, letting it slowly come out of her hand in a slow stream as she stared out into the distance for a moment before turning her head to see a new person. The girl seemed to be out of place like her considering her clothing that she wore as well. At first she didn't say anything, but she knew deep down that now is not the time to separate from people. She wanted to know more about this mysterious girl and perhaps she can understand more about what is going on if she had some information as well. Picking up her sandals, she walked over to her while barefoot as she smiled kindly at her. "Good day to you," she said with a pleasant tone of voice. If there was one thing she knew, it was that a smile can always help more than a blade. "My name is Ouranus Nova, what's your name?"

Oh, she was spotted. But that girl...she was rather mysterious. She was rather strange, but strange wasn't a nice word to use, according to Scara's vocabulary. Scara waved at the girl to acknowledge that she was friendly as she stood up, backing away from the water so her dress wouldn't get wet. she wondered why she had a notebook too...
"Good day to you too." She said. She wasn't as shy as before because she had seen the person first, instead of the other way around, which would usually get some sort of squeal of surprise. Scara smiled back. Scara looked unarmed, but that was because she left her weapons in the abandoned house the locals of Besaid allowed her to use.
It wasn't much, but it was better than living in constant danger. If she had Vento, it would be alright, but she had nothing. Only her good, friendly nature. "My name's Scara Roshinto. It's nice to meet you, Ouranus Nova." Scara loved to be polite because she was taught that when people were polite, people appreciated it. There was nothing better than making people happy.

"Likewise."
As she smiled, deep down she had breathed a sigh of relief. She had thought for a moment that there might have been a problem. However, the reaction that she had given seemed to be a positive one. At the very least she didn't have to worry about needing to battle the mysterious girl. As she walked to her, she still wondered where she came from. Judging by the clothing that she had worn, she didn't seem to match up with the city in general. Maybe she was a traveler like Ouranus was. As she walked though, she went back into her journal and flipped the pages until she reached to the section pertaining to meeting new people. She placed Scara's name onto the list as she looked up at her once again. "So, where do you come from? I'm from the Northern continent myself. I've been traveling for a while, and even I have to say that this place was one of the more peaceful cities that I have ever encountered." There was a genuine tone of curiosity in her voice as she spoke to Scara. She did want to know what was going on, and anything she said to Ouranus would give her some more information about what happened to her home and the others who had been touched.

Oh, now she was looking at her notebook again. Was there something interesting in there? Scara was curious, but not rude enough to snatch, or attempt to snatch, the notebook from Ouranus. What if there are...deep dark secrets, like in a dairy? That would make Scara look horrible. Where did she come from? Scara was about to answer and then it hit her.
She never once questioned where she was and found out that she couldn't recall it. She thought she was only missing her friend...yet now, she was missing the name of where she lived! "I...can't remember." That wasn't very good information. "I guess I'm traveling for now too. I'm looking for parts of my missing memory."
What else had she forgotten? "I thought I was only missing a name and a face but now...I seem to be missing my homeland's name too. Now I'm beginning to wonder what else I might have forgotten...?" This was somewhat frustrating because Scara had no idea what she had forgotten, if she forgot anything else.

"Missing memory?"
At first Ouranus had a blank expression on her face, but then something clicked in her mind as she pulled her journal out again. She seemed to be looking for something as she flipped quickly through the pages until she found what she was looking for. As she read, her journal was opened to when she had been living in Alexandria. She had wrote about a mist that was prevalent in her world and how it brought forth monsters like moths to a flame. But in time the mist that covered her world started to twist and mutate itself to the point that even the minds of the people who lived in the kingdom. Could it mean that she was altered by the same mist? And if so, did it purge her mind? Her kind smile had vanished and in place was an expression of an inquisitive mind. "I've been trying to figure out what is going on with this new world. All I was sure right now is that multiple worlds are now mixed." She then grabbed some sand and let it slowly trickle from her hand. "This land is different from where I am from. That much I am certain. So maybe we can find more things together."

Scara listened to Ouranus. she lived in an interesting world, Scara thought, but knew that when her memory didn't jog back that she didn't live in that world. Something did click, however, after she mentioned the mist. But she went on about how they were in a new world, or a merged world. Scara nodded. It seemed that way, judging by the talk of the Besaid people.
She nodded. "Yes. I wouldn't mind traveling at all. If what you say is true, then maybe...my world is out there somewhere. But I think I remembered something. My home - it was beautiful. It was so green and full of life. I remember it being a hard life too, though. I rarely ever had a roof over my head but sometimes, i preferred it that way. Nature is a beautiful splendor of the earth."
But...the name was missing. Or...did she imagine this world? Did she truly live in such a peaceful yet dangerous place? It was hard to grasp but it felt true. "I wonder where we should go first, though." Scara said. She didn't know any other place besides Besaid, the place she woke up in. She also had no sense of direction without Vento.

"I bet it must have been beautiful."
Ouranus closed her eyes as she imagined what Scara's home would look like. It must have been an area lush with trees. A true sight to behold. She had not seen plenty of forests in her life. Much of it was in the walls of Alexandria. But as she traveled, she did take note about everything around her. She noticed the mountains and made sure to make safe routes through the territories. However, she had not gotten any kind of leads. As she looked around, she nodded her head again as she smiled. "Here should be a good start." As she picked up another handful of sand, she stared out into the distance of the ocean. "When I was young, I watched the lake around my home when I was a child. But this is a different kind of water. It didn't taste like normal water, rather it was pretty salty." She had no idea what an ocean was, but maybe Scara knew about it. But as she looked at Scara, Ouranus held her hand out to her. "Don't worry, I have your back if worse comes to worse."

Scara nodded. It was beautiful in her mind, even though the name of the place didn't come to mind, but there were no beaches, per se. So this was her first time experiencing the sand. She nodded to Ouranus. Here would be her home base for now, until she found her home but...she didn't want to leave Besaid behind either. She wanted to stay here too.
But it was impossible for her to be in two places at once. Then Ouranus talked about when she was young. Scara smiled. "I've heard stories about the ocean from my friend. She went to another planet, I think, and she told me all about it." Scara smiled at the memory of her telling her stories, even if it was a silhouette of a person.
"Yeah, we didn't have an ocean on my planet. We had fresh water where monsters and humans both drank from the same place. I remember my planet being beautiful but also dangerous at times because of all the monsters. But sometimes, they're nice monsters." If that made any sense to her at all. Scara made 'friends' with some of the monsters on her planet.

"Nice...monsters?"
Ouranus had a confused look on her face as Scara said that. The idea of a monster not trying to gnaw the faces off her family. That was something she did want to see. The fact there were monsters that were not trying to kill people was something to take note of. She continued to think about the possibility about nice monsters until she blinked a couple of times. Something in the back of her head made her backtrack as she looked at Scara again. "Wait, you said another planet right?" Ouranus' golden eyes flashed with a light of child like curiosity as she spoke. "Is this before the event? If so how would your friend do it?" Ouranus wanted to know if there was a way to travel to another world without the Cataclysm happening. She knew that airships do exist thanks to watching the Red Rose several times in her childhood. But a ship that can actually go beyond the skies is something she would want to see.

Scara should have expected it. She doubted anywhere in this world there was such things as friendly or nice monsters, excluding the chocobos. However, they were considered more like pets than monsters. Scara nodded. "I'm not from Besaid, at least." She said. She nodded. Then it hit here - how did her friend get off her world?
She assumed it was a world, because there was another planet staring down at them all the time and then she left to that world. Suddenly, her mind flashed to a memory. Black and red flashed in her mind as gold soon entered her memories. Then, the face of a dragon emerged, strong and powerful, and it made sense how she got there. "She simply...flew."
Scara wasn't aware that she said that out loud, still mystified at the sudden jolt of her memory. She snapped back to reality, looking back at Ouranus. "Where I lived, monsters and humans co-existed almost harmoniously. You could say we were...undeveloped in a sense. A backwater planet, where humans barely did anything to the earth, and nature itself was spared."

"Besaid, so that's the name of this place."
Ouranus went back into her journal and wrote down the name of the land she was in. This way she would be able to recall it if she ever needed to go back. As she wrote down some more notes however, she stopped for a moment when Scara told Ouranus that the girl simply flew. Could that even be possible? It was one thing about being able to float in mid air, but literal flight was something she had never seen before in her life? One day she had hoped that she could be able to see what this flight really was? Could it be like flying around in the airship or did Scara really mean that her friend was literally able to fly? But she then went off her train of thought as Ouranus listened to what Scara had said. She didn't say much at first, but she looked out into the ocean as she spoke. "To be honest, your world isn't as backwater as you think. If your people were able to get that kind of connection with monsters, then I say you were more better off than I was." She looked at the sky as she sighed softly. "There was this mist that covered my world and it brought monsters out to attack my people. The source of the Mist however I heard was actually some kind of tree. I never seen it myself, but I still wonder if the influence of the tree is here, I haven't seen roots here in Besaid, so we should be okay."

Scara tilted her head. She didn't know the name of the place? Oh well, maybe she just arrived here. Scara was surprised at Ouranus. Scara found her planet undeveloped compared to places like Cocoon. Actually, Besaid was more developed than all of Gran Pulse. She wondered why Ouranus said that, but she was already talking and had to stop her chattering mind.
Scara was taken aback that monsters would attack in the mist. She could see it, but in a town...that was a saddening thought. A tree that produced a mist that would have monsters attacking from it? It was weird in her mind. "Not everyone where I lived could be friendly with monsters, and that goes for the monsters there too."
Scara nodded, recalling on a memory once she had with her friend. "My friend was one of them. All she wanted to do with monsters was to kill them. She didn't even like chocobos." Scara said, tilting her head. "But what kind of tree produces mist that would be where monsters attack from...? I certainly wouldn't like to live in a place like that...where you can't see the danger."

"Understandable."
Ouranus nodded her head as she talked about misunderstandings. It was like her father once told her, every kind of conflict can start from even the simplest misunderstandings. But there was one thing that she found kind of interesting when Scara talked about chocobos. Ouranus was always curious about the chocobo. She never got a chance to ride one in her life. But what made her intrigued is that there were actually chocobos in Scara's world. Her mind began to wander until she asked about the tree itself. Her mind snapped back as she then pondered for a moment about it. "It's hard to describe..." her voice trailed off as she began to thumb through the notes in her journal as she tried to think about how to describe the tree. She knew it wasn't like a true tree, but rather it almost functioned like a series of veins in her world to transport the mist. Eventually she found data about the tree and showed Scara what she had wanted to tell her. From first glance it was a tree but it seemed like it was a series of massive vines twisting around to create a tree and then spread through her world.
