She had to admit, for being a garden, this place was a bit under the bar for flora and fauna alike. Most of the place seemed to be a school or something, but to be honest, Serah had no intention of ever going here. It seemed to be a military school at best, and after seeing what her sister had gone through, she would never do it.
But she did enjoy what it did have garden-wise. She was standing near a bush of roses, smiling at the smell of them. After Light had left, all she could do was continue her education search away from home as it was now being engulfed in war, something her sister would have wanted her to be far away from. So, she ended up here, as it was, and was left with nothing. She sighed. So... what to do now?

It was strange, so much of this world made no sense, but at the same time, it all seemed familiar. As if Noel was experiencing a never ending assault of Déjà Vu. As his feet had felt the soft and hard terrain beneath him, his eyes marvelling at the massive landscapes and mountains, always he could have sworn that he had seen it. However the sensation wasn't a pleasant surprise, rather to Noel it felt like it held an ominous weight to it. As if gaining his memories back would unlock a dark secret. He tried to push it from his mind, as he focused on the present rather than the past. It wasn't easy but he knew that he could do it. He looked down from the edge, wondering how the military school managed to stay afloat. Beneath the halls of residence and the training grounds, a wild world lay in wait. It seemed keen, its tree's acting as its claws desperately trying to reach out and grab it. Monsters some giants others aerial, passed by it or tried to attack it at times, all unsuccessful. The quality of the student’s skill was easily noticed, acting more like a fully fledged army than anything. But you could still tell they were youths, boys trying to show off their skill to the girls, the girls squealing when they saw Moogle float past. It was a natural reaction, one which took some getting used to, but it broke the ice and allowed Noel the chance to ask for directions or something along those lines.
"Pretty big drop huh"
He smiled as Moogle clung to his shoulder, looking down nervously at the world below.
"U...um excuse me sir, civilians aren't meant to be near the edge, if you could please stay within the Gardens it would be most helpful."
Noel turned slowly, having half the mind to pull out his weapons and show the student who was more a civilian. However when his eyes glanced to notice the groups nearby, he resisted.
"Whatever you say solider boy."
Noel gave him a mock salute and sauntered off into the guardian, keeping his eyes peeled and senses sharp for any smart asses. However none came, he noticed some girls wanting to pet Moogle, but their male friends stood in their way, all feeling an uneasy vibe coming from Noel. He couldn't help it; he had been wandering since he awoke in the ocean with no memories at the Central Continent. Only now and again did he get fragments, small shattered pieces of his memories. It all frustrated him so, to the point where he felt like exploding. Sure other people have lost their memory before, but they have had someone close to reassure them, for Noel, all he had was Moogle. Walking quickly into the gardens, he looked around, noticing that he couldn't see anyone. Gripping his fists he let out a small shout of fury, feeling as if his pain was being crushed within him. That the world was more claustrophobic, despite its massive size. He walked to a wall and punched it, trying to control his anger.
"Kuupo?"
Moogle floated nearby, looking worried at Noel. He registered it, and knew that if he kept it up, someone was bound to take him away. Kneeling down, Noel rested his head against the wall, lightly hitting it with his forehead. He breathed deeply, and kept mumbling himself the same words over and over, hoping that it would cause a miracle....

The intense pounding of a wall nearby made Serah stand up straight. She looked over to the noise, a dismayed look on her face. The boy wasn't a student, one could tell. He had moogle, and Serah couldn't say he wasn't good looking. Deciding to see if she could help the guy out, she walked over to him, placing a hand on his shoulder. She knew he could easily push it away if he wanted, but for some reason, she felt.. drawn to him. She felt the need to help him, at least.
"Is something wrong?" Serah asked the man in a gentle voice, almost meekly. She had to at least get him to stop hurting himself. Whatever it was over, it wasn't worth pounding his head over. A gentle smile came on her face as she knelt down beside him, her hand still on his shoulder.

Noel's body tensed as he felt the girl's hand rest upon his shoulder. His other arm quickly moved to the hilt of his Gladius, but he quickly let go. Even though they had saved his life on numerous occasions, Noel still felt horrified that he would have pulled his weapon out on someone just trying to help. It made him realise just how much anger he had pent up within him, how much he needed to confront and learn to accept. He tried to think differently, that the world was full of new memories ones that would outshine his old ones. But he just couldn't, those old memories were the key to who he was. His past, his origin the only thing linking him to those he loved. It was even worse that he couldn't recall his own mothers face, assuming that he had seen it as a child. Noel felt the rage building up again, but when he heard the girl’s voice, it seemed to affect him. It did so in a way he couldn't describe, as if it felt natural, like something that always happened. Noel pushed it to the side, not looking away from the floor as he focused intently on its polished surface. Into view he could see the girls shoes, could smell whatever fragrance she was wearing. He didn't need to look to tell that she was smiling, nor did he need to look to be able to tell her hair was a light rose colour.
Noel stopped thinking for a moment, recalling his steps to knowing the girls hair colour. He had never met her, and yet he knew this one fact. The temptation to look was great, but Noel refused to, stubbornly trying to ignore the slight fear bubbling in his heart.
"If you have a cure for amnesia then I could use it right about now"
He didn't mean for it to come out so blunt and forceful, but then this was his natural nature. On top of being frustrated, Noel really didn't have the time to be worrying about hurting someone else's feelings. Moogle flapped it's tiny wings and sat itself on Noel's head, patting his head. It seemed to understand why he was angry, but then at the same time, the Moogle was also a source. In the fragments he had left, Moogle was always there, never leaving his side. It’s probably why he was so tolerant of the little fur ball. It was part of who he was, part of his past, and any comfort coming from it was almost like a link to that past.
"J.Just leave, you'll only end up getting hurt"
He kept staring straight down, but almost knew that she wouldn't, that she would stay by his side no matter what...

"No." Serah said forcefully. She refused to leave this guy, who was in distress, alone. Why he was in it was now clear, but still. She had come so far for absolutely nothing gained, but if she could do one good thing for a guy, she would. She knew she could get hurt, it didn't take him saying that for her to realize this. And to be honest, she didn't care. She'd gone through enough pain that this would just add to it for a while.
"I'm just here to help, okay? My name is Serah." she told him, looking at him seriously. She wasn't sure why he wouldn't look at her, but he would either have to or would at some point. She didn't take her hand away, or back up. She was not going to let this end out badly. She took her other hand and gently pet the moogle, giving a bit of a laugh because of it's cuteness.

Noel's eyes started to stare at the ground even harder when he heard her name, twitching and shaking. To anyone outside it looked like he was about to explode with rage, but inside, in his mind, was a different story. Everything rushed back, all his memories, everything in that small instant brought to the front of his mind. He couldn't stop it, the overflow of memories as he tried to cope with it all. It was insane, only a second ago he couldn't remember a thing yet now he knew it all? But what confounded him the most, was how Serah fitted into it so nicely. All the experiences they had shared together. Even.. the end was nice, though that part was still a bit foggy. Feeling relief surge and crash upon his anger, Noel couldn't help but turn to look at Serah. He wanted to grab a hold of her, hug her, and never let her go. He had done so in the past and never forgave himself for it. Quickly his head spun to look into her eyes, their crystal clarity being the same has he once remembered. Each aspect of her was the same, including that stubborn demeanour. Smiling Noel lifted his head a bit and reached out to her cheek.
"S..Serah!..."
His voice was full of happiness and surprise. But, he couldn't finish his sentence. The smile was wiped from his face, everything was wiped. At such a speed that Noel couldn't even remember, remembering about who Serah was. For Noel, it was as if the past few seconds hadn't happened, yet there was a feeling of longing within him, something that brought back his anger. Snapping his hand back, Noel stood up, breaking the strange connection Serah had with her hand.
"Just leave it alright! I don't need your pity"
Noel stormed off into the garden, not caring if he hurt Serah's feelings. She wouldn't have been able to understand how he felt, how could she? Noel's eyes picked up on a couple of other students watching him, noticing how rude he was with Serah. They could come at him if they felt like it, but he would assure them that he wouldn't play nice. Picking up his pace, Noel sped towards one of the balconies that overlooked Gran Pulse. He needed to be somewhere without walls or a ceiling, otherwise he was afraid they would all close up on him.

Serah almost took a step back at his sudden change, eyes blinking. But feeling frozen in place, she didn't flinch at all when he touched her cheek. His hand was warm, she realized, despite his cold personality. She blushed for once in her life, something she rarely did. What was he doing? When he spoke her name, she gave him a confused look.
"Do I know you?" she asked, curious to why he had said it so happily. She didn't think she'd met him before... maybe they had gone to school together? Looking at his clothing, she guessed no. But... it was weird of him to say it like that. As he stood, she back up, allowing him room to leave. Normally, she would have let him go, really. But not this time.
"Wait!" Serah yelled, running after him into the gardens. Why would she even do this? It should have not ended like this. She followed him all the way to the balcony, where she stood a few feet behind him in silence. Then she ran up to him, and grabbed his hand.
"Okay, I know you were supposed to have memories of me, but I have no memories of you, and I apparently had a fiancee I forgot about. I don't know how I forgot, but I get the feeling too, okay?"

Noel felt a small weight be lifted from his shoulders as he walked onto the balcony. He ignored Serah's pleas, trying to shut them out completely. Yet something about her just clung to him, like when she called out, he should respond. Noel's very nature was screaming in the back of his head, telling him to listen to her, to focus all his attention on her. It was frustrating, that your body knew something your mind did not. Noel growled to himself as he looked out from the balcony admiring the view. The sun was starting to set, and the world of Gran Pulse lay before them. The sounds of monsters crying out some sounded like their last breath others their first. Further in the distance, hung Cocoon, its crystallized sphere looking like it would fall off at any moment. The light caught it at such an angel, that a large blue shadow was stretching towards the Gardens.
He felt her hands wrap around his, it wasn't a shock or surprise. Noel simply ignored it, even though the warmth was welcoming. Her fingers were soft, nimble and light, a huge contrast to his long and hard ones. Her voice seemed to get inside his head, resonating with his heart and mind, telling him to trust her, that he should and always will, like before.
"You at least remember your family...your friends, those who you grew up with. I remember no one, nothing...”
He spoke with little emotion, sounding dead and cold. In truth if he removed the anger, the hate at his dumb luck, that was all Noel really felt. So far very few people had shown him kindness, most stuck with the crowd and ignored his questions. He had been living like a beggar in the cities, and a king in the wilderness. Noel hasn't even slept in a bed, either the hard floor, or in the middle of a shrub. The soft and cheap luxuries of this world seemed to stand at a price to high. It was enough to drive anyone insane, something Noel feared might happen to him. You could say that Serah's kindness was alien to Noel, so much so that he continued to resist against it in fear that he would be betrayed.
"You..can't know how I feel, not in any way"
Noel didn't turn to look at Serah, but whether he noticed or not, his hand clasped tighter around hers.

"The guy I was going to get married to, he disappeared. I'm sorry you can't remember anything--If I could, I would help. But, I can't. If you focus on the past, you can't move forward." she stated, refusing to let his lack of emotion bother her as she talked. She was going to keep reasoning with him, until something happened. She felt that she was somehow stuck to him, drawn in a matter she couldn't explain. Like someone is drawn to a mystery. But it was more than that, she knew, but what it was, she had no idea.
She looked down, bringing a hand to her necklace, the one that wasn't attached to Noel's hand, slowly becoming tighter in the grip they shared. She didn't let that bother her, in fact, it brought a slight smile to her face before she looked back at him, or at least at the back of his head.
"No, I don't know how you feel. I've had a good life, living on Cocoon. The worst thing that happened to me was that my parents died. I can't say I understand what's going on in your head right now. But, I still want to be there to help you. I, I can't explain it, but...."

Noel wanted to shout at her, to tell her to stop pestering him, but he just couldn't. He got a tugging feeling from her, one that seemed to come from the back of his head. Like he could sense she was behind him, as if some invisible plug was connecting them. Their brains clicking like a pair of computers, messaging each other. Information hidden, unknown to the naked eye, but real was being transferred across. Noel wanted to drop back, to allow his body to fall once again into that sea of data, and hopefully find himself once more. He smiled, as he thought about the cool darkness of the deep. He wouldn't be lonely; the girl holding his hand would be sinking in its depths, though still holding onto her light. Taking a deep breath, he turned and looked at her, quickly and fluidly. His eyes bore into hers, searching for something, a real signal, one that he could see, touch and taste. Before he knew it Noel's eyes had fallen to Serah's lips, taking in each indent, and their smoothness. He wasn't flustered, nor was he going to lean in and steal a kiss. Just looking seemed to be enough, as if Noel had already touched them before.
"You want to help?"
His voice was hard, not shaking, not full of anger, just stone cold. The wind that blew was light, and shifted Noel's fringe by a fraction. But enough to cast a different shadow in the setting sun. He now looked like a warrior, not a confused guy, one that lost his memories.
"Then jus~"
"What do you think you’re doing with that girl kid? All she's been trying to do is help?"
A small group of students from the Academy turned up. They worse their clothes loosely, probably some form of rebellion to the dress code. Numbers wise it was about 6, some Noel recognised from his journey through the Gardens. Hell even the student from earlier who told him to move away from the side was there, acting as if he had a spine. They grinned, trying to prove that in a group their macho-ness would dwarf Noel's fighting spirit. Stepping forward, Noel pulled at Serah's hand, wanting her to stand behind him.
"So what you've come to lend a helping hand? You can lie to yourselves with that entire manly demeanour all you want, but don’t try and fool me"
Noel grinned as he spat the words out, knowing full well, that this group was the type of moronic idiots, set to strike.

She nodded carefully at his question, eyes wide, ready for him to hit her or something. He didn't look angry, but he gave her this feeling that he was angry. Maybe at the whole world, maybe at her. She wasn't sure, but she thought-- no, felt-- that it was out of confusion that he was angry. Even when the shadow shifted, she was still worried, waiting for him to yell at her, tell her to get lost. He could have, and she would have left. She knew when pestering was enough.
His sentence was cut short, though, as some rough guys-- both in manners and looks, she thought-- decided to approach the two. Her eyes widened-- a fight could break out if she didn't say anything, and as she was pulled behind Noel, she let go of his hand, and stepped a bit forward. Then she tried to reason with the group.
"It's fine. I was just about to leave him alone, anyways. But fighting isn't going to solve his problem, memory or not." she told the group, and stared them down. No, she couldn't fight, but maybe that would scare them off, or at least she hoped. She didn't exactly want anyone getting hurt.

Noel stepped forward just as Serah had, just so that she didn't get in front of him. He didn't want these clowns dragging her off and then leaping at him. Noel knew all too well the tactic they were going to use. Surround him, separate the pair so that the innocent civilian doesn't get caught up in the crossfire. For some reason Noel knew this, as if he had learnt the tactics of war. Probably something he had done, but for now it was acting as second nature. Showing the determination in his eyes, he didn't look back to Serah, but pull on hand back, as if going for an itch, when instead it was for her wrist. His eyes took in the guys surrounding him, making a mental note of each. The one that had talked was lanky, with a ridiculous hair style. Those surrounding him were a mixture of sizes and shapes, two in particular were quite hench, something Noel had to watch out for. What he did pick up was how a couple were injured, sporting bandages around arms and legs. He could do some real damage to them, something fierce.
"Does it look like I'm talking to you? And I couldn't give a fuck if he can't remember anything, no one pisses me off"
He gave Serah a disgusted look, as if she was trash. His cohorts laughed, calling Serah a mixture of little girl to slut. Some of them thinking that this hard guy act was going to turn her on or something. Noel couldn't help but let out a burst of laughter at the notion.
"Somethin' funny?"
"Yea, it's how you’re going to one of the few standing in the next 30 seconds"
"Why yo~"
The guy was cut short as Noel lashed out to the person next to him, leaping and grabbing his arm followed by a hard planted foot to the leg. The guy screamed as Noel hit his injury, falling back. Noel quickly danced back, before feinting a punch and counter attacking with a roundhouse kick. The attacker was sent sprawling into two of his buddies, leaving the lanky guy and his 2 giant's to deal with. Shifting his feet, Noel brushed his nose as he went in for the attack. Large brute the first went in for a tackle, which smacked into Noel and nearly knocked all the air from his lungs. His back hit the ground, the pain shocking his mouth open. The big lug had lifted himself off Noel and went to stamp on his head, leaving the wild man a window of opportunity. As his foot came down, Noel caught it and moved, then using his core strength he lifted himself as the idiot lifted his leg. Using the momentum Noel planted both of his feet into the guy's face, breaking his nose and instantly causing him to back off. Noel dropped to the ground and rolled to his feet, already seeing the other run towards him as well as those that had hit the ground.
"Come on Lets go!"
He called to Serah as he grabbed her wrist and sprinted off through the gap. They started shouting, calling for back up and for the others to get up and catch the pair.
"Do you know your way around this place?"
Noel called back to Serah as they ran through a marble arch. He had no clue as to where they could run, but hopefully this girl could do more than pester.

Serah bit her lip at the male's remark, offended but not wanting to start a fight for the sake of both Noel and her. She gave Noel a very confused look as he laughed. Had he gone mad? His next remark caught the pinkette off guard, and before she had any chance to stop it, everything was a rush of purple, brown, and black as he fought them. So much for her plan. She hated that there was nothing else she could do for him or the others now, as she'd been dragged into a fight she didn't even want to happen. Now she was dragged out, her thin wrist being tugged as Noel pulled her through the remains of the fight.
"Did you have to do that?" she scolded, taking on a look her older sister may have done, a slight scowl gracing her face as she was pulled along and through a marble arch into a hedge maze. She sighed, half-angry at Noel. "Next time, can you try not to get into a fight in a place you don't know how to get out of? I have no idea how to get out of here, okay?" she said, her tone hardened as they reached a dead end. "Have any plans?" she remarked, looking to see where the thugs had followed them to as she ducked down out of sight.

Noel listened to what Serah had to say, but he didn't pour all of his attention into it. As the dead end loomed into view, Noel couldn't help but utter curses in his native tongue. As soon as the words left his mouth, a look of shock dawned upon his face. Not once since his awakening in the ocean, had he ever been able to remember his old language. The words were powerful, forceful, naturally strong using heavy rolls of the tongue. It flowed out of him, a string of swears against the designer of the gardens and the situation he was in. Looking at Serah he continued, not swearing at her, rather talking to her as if he expected her to reciprocate the same language back. It took a moment for the realisation to dawn upon his face, that in all his travels, he had met no language similar to his. Quickly coughing, Noel pulled Serah back the way they came, searching for another route. As he led her down rows of high green walls, and dead end after dead end, the echoing shouts of the students was steadily getting louder.
"Alright, I'm sorry...”
The words reluctantly left Noel's mouth though were accompanied by the heavy rolls of his native tongue. It seemed as if it was desperately trying to re-enforce itself back into Noel's speech, something that was causing a great discomfort. His eyes darted around, as he caught sight of a group in the distance. Cursing once more he turned back to the newest dead end they had reached and whipped out his Great Fire. The blade gleamed in the late afternoon sun, its deadly fire pattern seemed to change colour with the light. The effect made it look like the sword was actually on fire, something Noel always wished would happen.
“But... I'm tired of this goddamn maze!"
He roared as he charged forward and hacked a succession of strikes with his blade. It cut cleanly through the branches, showing a small like corridor that seemed to run through the centre of the maze. Whether Lady Luck was on their side, or that coincidences really did happen, Noel didn't push the matter further and grabbed Serah's hand once more, tugging her down it. As he ran, the air filling his lungs, the sound of the maze being hacked through seemed to echo down the long corridor, shouts following soon after. The end was in sight, a glowing rectangle at the end of the dark green path. As Noel looked behind him he saw the crowded group, armed with weapons of all kinds, sprint towards them. But what really caught his eye was the large figure in the distance. It soared with grace, but that was only a small distraction from the power one could easily tell it wielded. Noel looked to Serah, a large grin plastered across his face.
"If you've got any complaints, save them for later"

She gave the male a blank stare as he spoke in something very different to her own native tongue, something she couldn't recognize. Wherever he was from, it was not likely that it was a well known language. It made her wonder- where exactly had this man come from? Who was he? More importantly, what had happened to him that made him forget everything he had ever known about himself? She tried talking back in his tongue by saying some of the words she'd heard him say before he had started talking to her, since she had no idea that they were swear words. Either way, when he started talking to her in a more familiar language, she relaxed. It was nice to know he was somewhat bilingual, too.
"It's fine, I just want to get out of here--" and by the time she'd finished, she was tripping and attempting to run with Noel, almost being lifted in the air by him as she was very light. But she didn't have time to think about if she had complaints- instead, they both ran off the edge, starting to fall fast to the ground. She groped for Noel, her hands wrapping around his chest as if that would help either of them.
"Save me!"
